Ana Carvalho is a portuguese visual artist and digital design consultant based in Lisbon.
For the last seventeen years she has been focused on digital design and strategy, exploring sensorial concepts. In the last years she has been longing to explore new forms of visual expression and abstract representation by returning to paper and canvas.

In 1999 she completed her degree in Graphic Design in Lisbon and shortly after received her Master Degree in Digital Interfaces from the Escola Superior de Disseny Elisava / Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona), tutored by the intermedia artist, musician and composer José Manuel Berenguer, director of the Orchestra del Caos. At the age of 5, she started music studies, playing the violin followed by the viola that became her main instrument.

Having as main focus her participation on THE ARCTIC CIRCLE Expeditionary Residency in the Summer Edition 2016, she has developed the three part project ÁRTICO.

Ana has been presenting her work on several exhibitions. Later 2016, she participated with three other artists in the exhibition LIMES curated by Manuel Rodrigues, in Lisbon. In April 2017, joined the participants of the Arctic Circle 2016 in the exhibition BEYOND NATURE, in Fort Worth Contemporary Arts, Texas curated by Adam Fung TCU Professor of Art.

Her artistic and creative practice is a result of a visual media persistent research expressed by a large scope of mediums and distinguished techniques from digital platforms to paper. Influenced by her background, the relation between sound and visual elements has a strong presence. Her organic abstract compositions engage the concepts of place and landscape on different levels of depths.

LABVERDE Art Residency an immersive experience through the Amazon, was her latest experience in August 2017.

In January 2019, Ana was part of AU DÈLA DU NORD, exhibition presented in Galerie D’Art Louise-et-Reuben-Cohen and curated by the art photographer and director of the Visual Arts Department of the University of Moncton, Julie Forgues - New Brunswick, Canada.
In April 2019, Ana has participated in the exhibition A MAGNETIC NORTH, curated by the artist Kate Collyer in Mildred I. Washington Art Gallery, Poughkeepsie - New York.
